AI consulting and software development, built to run in production.

Red J Solutions is a consulting and engineering practice that designs, ships, and operates production systems inside live businesses. We have been building them since 2003, across insurance, banking, education, legal services, commerce, and asset management. Today that work is agentic AI, built with the same discipline.

The AI is new. The discipline is not. Twenty years of cutovers, incidents, and production debugging is why our agents ship with budgets, audit trails, and a human on the last gate.

Services

What we do. Every engagement is assembled from these.

  1. Agentic systems in production

Agents that run unattended, with budgets, audit trails, and approval gates.

  2. AI operating environments for business teams

An AI environment your team can run without a developer.

  3. Platform modernization

Legacy systems moved to a current stack without losing anything.

  4. Governed research and extraction pipelines

Document and research pipelines whose answers you can trace and verify.

  5. Integration engineering

Separate vendors and systems wired together so they behave as one.

  6. Reliability, CI/CD, and observability

Staging, pipelines, and monitoring that make deploys uneventful.

How we work

How a system gets built

  1. 1 Specify

    Written specifications before any code.

  2. 2 Review

Three-model adversarial review of the plan.

  3. 3 Isolate

    Isolated worktrees, tests first.

  4. 4 Verify

Automated code and security review on every change.

  5. 5 Release

CalVer releases and a dated journal of every decision.

Work

Two kinds of work, one engineering practice.

Some clients come for agents that run unattended. Others come for software that has to keep working for years. The same people build both.

Agents running live businesses

Consulting and hands-on engineering for businesses putting AI to work. We scope what an agent should and should not do, build it, and put the controls around it: budgets, audit trails, evaluation gates, and a human on the last step that reaches a customer.

Magnetic Onesie

Direct-to-consumer apparel on Shopify and TikTok Shop

An AI operating environment for a non-technical founder

We deployed Claude Code as the founder's daily operating environment, governed by a written contract, so a solo operator could run email, campaigns, and reporting without touching a vendor GUI or a terminal.

Agentic production platform

Live market data, multi-broker execution, self-managing operations

A 24/7 agentic system with governed promotion to production

A Python platform that rebuilds its own data overnight, runs live execution paths over broker socket APIs, reconciles its own state, and reviews its own health, with strategies inactive by default and an eight-artifact promotion audit.

Compound AI research desk

Propose-only investment research

Eleven discovery engines with a provenance ledger

A research system that runs blind across Claude, Grok, Gemini, and OpenAI, reconciles claims, verifies insider claims against EDGAR, and stress-tests every proposal before a human sees it.

SEC filings extraction

Governed LLM extraction and backtest research

Extraction over 338,778 filings with a frozen quality gate

A governed extraction pipeline over SEC 8-K records, with a frozen gold set, a five-model bake-off, unanimity-or-abstain classification, and weekly drift regression.

Platforms still standing under load

Custom software, built to order and built to last: web applications and APIs, migrations off stacks that have become a liability, and the release discipline that makes deploys uneventful. Two decades of it, across banking, insurance, commerce, education, legal services, asset management, and infrastructure.

  • New York Deli

    Restaurant online ordering, Westborough, Massachusetts

Platform modernization with a zero-loss cutover

We ported a 20,000-line PHP and MySQL ordering site to Next.js, React, TypeScript, Drizzle, and Turso, then cut production over with every historical order intact.

  • Veritext Legal Solutions

    Legal services API platform

AI-assisted engineering on a live GraphQL platform

Lead engineering for Node.js, GraphQL, and React delivery across legal-services integrations, introducing pull requests authored and reviewed with Claude Code and automated security scanning before human review.

  • Homesite Insurance

    Personal insurance, vendor sales channels

Quoting APIs behind national retail partners

We built and tuned the backend that collects a customer's details, talks to upstream insurers, assembles competing quotes, and returns them fast enough to hold someone's attention, including for the Costco channel.

  • Loomis Sayles

    Asset management, portfolio tooling

Live portfolio and risk tools for fund managers

We built the tools fund managers used to see their positions across accounts in real time, so they could tell at a glance whether a portfolio still matched its target allocation.

  • Cengage

    Education technology

A testing engine and course platform at scale

We built the assessment engine students used to learn and be tested inside simulated office software, and worked on the platform teachers used to manage courses, assignments, and grades.

  • FM Global

    Commercial insurance

A consumer-facing platform on an enterprise backend

We built a responsive, data-driven public site on top of an enterprise content platform, with configurable components the business could rearrange without a developer.

  • Wells Fargo

    Banking, globally deployed internal platform

Accessible, database-driven forms at global scale

We built form-collection applications whose layout and validation are driven by the database rather than hand-coded, so a form could change without a release, and made them usable by people who navigate with a screen reader.

  • Vistaprint

    E-commerce at scale

    Independently deployable microservices on AWS

We added new capability to a large existing storefront without touching the monolith, so individual components could move to a modern stack on their own schedule.

  • Houghton Mifflin Harcourt

    Education technology

A Flash classroom application rebuilt in React

We led the move of a live online classroom off Flash and onto React and Redux, rearchitecting the core so the product could keep shipping after the plugin era ended.

  • AECOM

    Global engineering and infrastructure

Enterprise profile and search across disconnected systems

We built a people directory that pulled identity from Active Directory and several external databases into one searchable profile, and made it look like the rest of the corporate site.
